Testimonies

  • Dr. Min-Ken Liao

“My Neighbor’s Voice is a warm and safe place for me, one who loves people but not small talk; it’s amazing to connect with others by just being and listening. Every person is indeed a book!”

  • Ryan O’Malley

“So many of our most impactful discussions take place around a table, having fellowship. People distill their thoughts by talking through them and we grow by this process, along with learning how to listen to others. My Neighbors Voice is elevating the conversation around our shared communal table.”

  • Samuel Lyons

“I have worked all my life to create a more perfect union for my children and their future. My Neighbor’s Voice is a place where I can help that happen.”

  • David Johnson

“I became a moderator for MNV because I believe it provides a good step forward in helping to reduce the partisanship we are surrounded by now.”

  • Hyeon Mi Jin

“Thanks for inviting me to experience such a good conversation. As an immigrant, it means a lot to me to share my story.”

  • Ryan Evans

“As a veteran, I am worried about the health of our Democracy here in America. My Neighbor’s Voice is a way that we can all strengthen our country right now.”

  • Oscar Bennett, Executive Coordinator, Sustaining Way

"I have enjoyed every event that My Neighbors Voice has been a part of. I think that listening to others, especially people that have a very different view from you, is important and needed nowadays. We need to understand each other better even if we are not going to see eye to eye."

  • India Dennis, retired Presbyterian Pastor

“In an environment of division, dysfunction and distance among our neighbors of differing classes, races, religions and political parties, My Neighbor's Voice provides a safe and respectful space to listen to the heart and voice of my neighbors while at the same time expressing my heart and voice about life stories, issues and concerns that we all feel for our nation and world.”

  • Alecia Brewster

“MNV is the gift that keeps on giving to me. I've participated in multiple face-to-face and online MNV listening sessions and each experience provides me with new perspectives, new connections and a greater sense of community.”

  • Katherine Murray, UC Master Gardeners of Butte County

I really liked the format and how each person was asked a different question, so you could just focus on what each person said, and not get caught thinking about what your own response would be. I also thought 3 minutes was a perfect amount of time allotted to each person to speak, not too much to be intimidating for shy people, and not too much for people to ramble.

  • Anne Osborn

“I am grateful to MNV experiences and making new friends. Listening is the most valuable gift we give each other.”
